Driving Clinical & Quality Efficiencies
Implementation of the VTE core measures presented many challenges in a large university hospital. This session describes methods used to ensure compliance for both physicians and nurses. Among the measures employed were hospital-wide prophylaxis order sets to meet differing patient needs, timely and continuous implementation of prophylaxis and warfarin education, and concurrent review to maximize effective patient outcomes while the patient is still in the hospital. Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 2014 Press Ganey Success Story Award winner.
