Could an open source HRMS be in your future? As HR technology use becomes more collaborative, HRMS software continues to be delivered only by large-scale vendors. Open source has been a possible alternative, but continues to be resisted by many in technology even with the expansion of Software-as-a-Service and cloud computing. This session will examine the case for an open source architecture that provides more fluid HRMS functionality and data sharing. The session will review existing technology resources that allow HR to implement and use key components of functionality across multiple systems. Also discussed will be best practices in system security and stability, addressing resistance to open source, and how communities of practice focused on open source can collaborate effectively.

Presenter:
Bennett Reddin, Founder/Chief Technologist, TiltingWindmills, applies his HRIS expertise extending over 25 years from early PC-based HR systems to current Service Oriented architectures. He has designed several HR and Payroll architectures for service bureaus and ERP vendors, then deployed those systems.
