The perpetual conflict between insurance companies and roofing contractors continues. Why is that? Perhaps it is because every reroofing project after a storm event involves two contracts. One between the building owner and the roofing contractor. Another between the building owner and the insurance company. The terms of these contracts are not always consistent. And neither takes precedence? over the other. This often leads to conflict between the interests of the roofing contractor and the interests of the insurance company, leaving the building owner often stuck in the middle. With an open and candid dialogue between the presenter and audience, this session will explore all the issues typically arising in reroofing projects resulting from storm events. These issues include identifying scope of covered damage, determining cost to repair, the contractor's role in the claim process, payment of deductibles, assignments of benefits, and the appraisal process.
