Presenter: Frederick Mowrer, California Polytechnic State University
The purpose of this presentation is to share the preliminary results of a two-year project funded by the Department of Homeland Security to investigate the capabilities and limitations of compressed air foam systems (CAFS) for structural fire fighting. The goal of the research is to enhance fire fighter safety and effectiveness associated with the use of CAFS for structural fire fighting, with the objective of advancing the scientific knowledge base regarding this use. The session will share the specific aims of the project, which include producing a better understanding of the effectiveness and safety implications of CAFS for structural fire fighting through full-scale testing and the fireground evolution test.
