As the fire problem increases in areas of wildland-urban interface, so does the need for fire protection design in these areas. At-risk homeowners can improve their protection by implementing Firewise practices; as new communities are built, they can be designed using best practices and knowledge gained from current research. This session will discuss current knowledge and implementation of fire protection design on a new construction suburban community in the wildland-urban interface.
