Improving Physician Alignment Reinforcing effective care outcomes requires an active partnership between patients and their health care team. Achieving such a partnership requires effective communication between the team and patient. To build effective communication skills in this regard, the University of California, Irvine Health established a patient experience internship, affording students the opportunity to experience health care at the bedside while receiving eight units of credit for their work.
