This session details how Monmouth Medical Center achieved nursing excellence and numerous industry recognitions through a shared governance model. This model centered on encouraging and supporting front-line nurses to work directly with the CNO and other nurse leaders on quality improvement projects. By giving nurses a voice and allowing for more autonomy and shared governance activities, the model enabled nurses to understand the ?why? behind the initiatives, how they could make a difference, and how they could influence others on their units. The result at this organization has been steadily improving metrics over the course of eight years.
