After several attempts to implement hourly safety checks without sustained success, the director of a surgical unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa leveraged transformational leadership principles to engage the team in the process, problem-solve with huddles, model positive behaviors, hold staff accountable, and celebrate incremental success to hardwire an hourly safety-check process. The result has allowed this facility to overcome low patient experience scores and address high rates of patient falls and turnover on an ongoing basis. In addition to hearing more about this organization?s successes, attendees will also learn transformational leadership principles, how to alleviate avoidable stress during periods of change, and how to successfully overcome barriers to accomplish goals.
