In 2010, the state of Utah went through a consolidation of its HR function by moving the reporting relationship of all HR staff from numerous agencies to a single entity. In 2011, as a next step in optimizing the delivery of HR & payroll services, the State implemented a shared services delivery model (the Employee Resource and Information Center or ERIC). ERIC delivers a broad set of HR & payroll services to approximately 24,000 Utah employees. In this session, Jeff Herring the Executive Director of Human Resources will describe how ERIC was established and how its services have evolved over the past two years.

Presenter(s):

Jennifer Krell, SPHR, an HR Division Director for the State of Utah, Department of Human Resource Management, oversees the operations of eleven HR field offices that provide direct services to the 24,000 person workforce. She was the project manager for the development and implementation of the shared services model that was implemented in Utah in 2011.

Ken Millen, Director, Advisory, KPMG LLC, has had senior level management experiences in human resources, consulting, information technology, and as the head of HR service delivery for a Fortune 50 company.
