Presenter: Betty Alice Erickson, MS

Milton Erickson was adamantly atheoretical which allowed his work to be a basis for other more rigid therapeutic constructs. It also allowed his basic premises to expand and continue to be used and useful in today’s more modern world. This interactive workshop will discuss different ways of working with hypnosis, with trance states, and using clients’ own problems as the language for change. There will be demonstrations and practice exercises.

During and at the conclusion of this session, the attendee will be able to:
-> Explain at least two differences between Erickson’s use of hypnosis and more classically based methods;
-> List two different ways of inducing trance;
-> Explain at least two differences between treatment and healing; and
-> Construct stories to induce trance states.
